DEFIANT

A group of teenagers hangs out hidden among shipping containers. They are smoking, fighting, and making secret drug deals. Among the youngsters is Vilma. Just as a deal with a drug dealer is about to turn violent, blue police lights flood the area. Vilma’s life in various foster homes hasn’t been easy, and now she’s being placed in a youth care home. Living under constant supervision and new rules is challenging, and the decisions made by the staff don’t always feel fair to her. What happens when Vilma pushes the limits?

MY FILM [MINUN ELOKUVANI]

Metka Centre for Media Education [Mediametka] organized the first My Film festival in 1988 in Helsinki. The event was a seminar aimed at bringing together young video enthusiasts and professionals in the field. Since that first event, My Film has continued to follow the same practice, which is to enable young creators to express their own creativity and authorship and to create organic connections between filmmakers, various film communities, and young professionals. My Film programme celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2023.
