In the suburbs of a Chinese city a hot summer day is testing the residents: an old man sighs in front of his ice cream shop, a young boy plays the piano at home, and street mice try to find something to eat in the garbage. To escape the heat and her boredom, a lonely little girl sits in front of a fan in her home. Thunder starts to roar from the sky, the sunlight darkens, and water droplets fall to the ground. The approaching rain exhausts the girl and she falls into a deep sleep. When the girl opens her eyes again, the floors of her home are covered in cool water, and the streets of the city have flooded. Two mice float past her on a bottle and invite her to explore the submerged city.
